We have been wanting to visit the USS Midway for a very long time. Well we gave ourselves an extra day after the MCAS Miramar Airshow this year to do just that! It is an awesome museum. We were on board the USS Enterprise in Norfolk many (many many!) years ago and were able to see portions of an active military vessel – but being able to wander around the USS Midway was an entirely different experience. Being able to poke around where you would never be able to normally was really cool. We highly recommend it, well worth the $20 admission and you can see your money is going to a great cause. The military veteran docents are great too, take the time to talk with them.

The Beauty Battalion is organized by Elizabeth Kingston. From 2008-2012 she took teams of Beauty and Spa professionals to Guantanamo Bay Naval Station to set up a Retail and Spa center. During that time she also brought letters to the troops from civilians as well as thousands of dollars of donated goods from various Southern California businesses. In the years after the GTMO trips she worked to gather donated dresses and gowns for MCAS Miramar's Marine Ball in San Diego every year and was a regular attendee on the flight line at the fabulous Miramar Airshow. Having moved to Coeur d'Alene Idaho in 2019, she is now looking for similar opportunities to support the troops in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington.
